Description

NOTE:Â This test is ONLY AVAILABLE TO AUSTRALIAN RESIDENTS.
Anti-Mullerian Hormone is a hormone that is normally produced in the testicles in males and the ovaries in females. During puberty the level of AMH increases significantly in females. The level of AMH gradually declines over the reproductive years. In menopause there may be a very low or undetectable level of AMH.
The level of blood AMH can also be used in fertility assessment as it is secreted by the cells in the developing follicles. It may be used to indicate the ‘Ovarian Reserve’ or how many eggs a woman in her reproductive years has remaining. AMH may be elevated in certain hormonal conditions such as PCOS.
