Description

NOTE: This test is ONLY AVAILABLE TO AUSTRALIAN RESIDENTS.
Aldosterone/Renin is a measurement used to evaluate whether the adrenal glands are producing appropriate amounts of aldosterone and to distinguish between the potential causes of excess or deficiency.
This test profile is useful in measuring for primary aldosteronism, which causes high blood pressure. Primary aldosteronism is when you see excess production of the hormone aldosterone by the adrenal glands resulting in low renin levels.
Both aldosterone and renin levels are highest in the morning and vary throughout the day. They are affected by the body’s position, by stress, and by a variety of prescribed medications.
NutriPATH reports on both reference ranges whether it is a Recumbent (Lying) sample or Ambulant (Standing) sample.
