About Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, fortunately, over the past thirty years significant progress has been made in the areas of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The conventional risk factors for cardiovascular disease include hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia and low HDL cholesterol.
However, in an individual the presence of only one of these factors has a low positive predictive value leaving out important warning signs. Furthermore, a significant number of cardiovascular events still occur in individuals without these established risk indicators.
At present, the most advanced strategy for coronary risk assessment is therefore to combine the information of several risk factors. This multi-marker approach can enhance risk assessment, identifying those individuals with a moderate baseline risk who might benefit from reduction strategies. Not only are conventional risk factors assessed, but other CVD biomarkers such as lipoprotein (a), apolipoproteins A & B, homocysteine, fibrinogen and C-reactive protein (CRP) are included in this life saving test.
Knowing these valuable indicators of cardiovascular disease potential can be an extremely useful in discovering nutritional imbalances that can often prevent and or correct a cardiovascular failure.
Common Cardiovascular Conditions
- Hypercholesterolemia
- Insulin resistance
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Statin drug therapy
Are you using statin drugs to cover up the problem?
Statins are a class of drugs often prescribed by doctors to help lower cholesterol levels in the blood. By lowering the levels, they help prevent heart attacks and stroke. Studies show that, in certain people, they reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and even death from heart disease. The problem is, as with many medications, statin drugs are doing the job that should normally be done by the body while leaving the underlying problem unchecked and producing side effects that can lead to other complications. Taking the cardiovascular test is valuable in being able to discover underlying imbalances that can be treated naturally and in many causes those dependent on statin drugs are able to taper off these medications with the supervision of their medical doctor.
About the Omega 3’s and Cardio Vascular Disease
Omega‐3 fatty acids are essential to the human body and have benefits for our heart, brain, eyes and joints. By reducing inflammation, blood clots and improving membrane function, omega‐3 fats are associated with a lower risk of heart complications – including heart disease, plaque build‐up and heart attacks, both in persons with a history of heart disease and in healthy individuals. Omega‐3 fats are important for optimal brain development in babies and mental function, particularly later in life. Testing the balance of your omega fats can also help in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
